Redevelopment Update – TSL Roof

 In Redevelopment

News from 20th April, 2017

The last major module that will be installed by the heavy lift crane is the roof of the Top Submerged Lance (TSL) furnace building. This was transported into site over the Easter weekend to the staging area and is planned to be lifted into position this week.

This milestone means that the majority of the major mechanical equipment has been installed into the TSL building and the electrical work has commenced.

The heavy lift crane will no longer be a skyline feature at the smelter and will now be disassembled onsite. It’s expected that it will take approximately 6 weeks to dismantle and transport the crane offsite.
