Winnovation Award Winner

 In The Environment
Congratulations to Dr Hazel Vandeleur, (University of South Australia) Winnovation Award winner in the Rural, Regional and
Remote category.

Dr. Hazel Vandeleur, Research Fellow with the Futures Industries Institute of the University of South Australia has been working at Nyrstar Port Pirie site this year on a project to re-image the contaminated sediments near the smelter as a resource giving potential environmental and
economic benefits.

The Winnovation Awards aim to recognise, profile and raise awareness
of the significant achievements that innovative women are making in South Australia. UniSA encouraged Dr. Hazel Vandeleur to enter the awards as this project and the partnership between UniSA, Nyrstar, Flinders Ports and the SA EPA embodies how an innovative shared vision may offer
solutions to legacy issues.

Highlighting the work through the Winnovation awards offers the ideal
opportunity to let more people know about the great work being
done. The awards ceremony was held on October 3rd at the National
Wine Centre in Adelaide and we congratulate Hazel on bringing back
the award.
